Biofilm

Difference between a healthy mucous layer and biofilm
The human colon system is covered on the inside with a healthy mucous layer. This mucous layer protects epithelial cells which are situated in the colon wall. All kinds of food could irritate these cells if left unprotected. In science the mucous layer protecting the cells is called the Glycocalyx. Both bad and good bacteria form a mucous layer.

Bad bacteria form a layer that eventually becomes the biofilm. The bad and disease creating bacteria want to attach themselves to the colon wall and protect themselves against the attacks of good bacteria and digestive juices. The biofilm consists of not only bad bacteria, but they also use a number of other substances they find in the colon, such as heavy metals and calcium to make the biofilm impermeable – this is a property only bad bacteria have. Healthy bacteria also create a mucous layer, but they don’t clot or obstruct the holes in the Glycocalyx. In this way, the biolfilm becomes an impenetrable  fortress where bacteria can live on undisturbed and procreate.

Several biofilms
Biofilms do not limit themselves to the colon system. The human body has many more. There are biofilms in the sinuses, lungs, urinal tracts, ear tracts and mouth. The most well-known form of biofilm in the body is dental plaque. A biofilm can form in many places and is not exclusive to the human body. An example is a vase of flowers standing too long – after a while a thick slimy layer occurs in the vase and on the stalks of the flowers. This starts to stink. Everywhere where there is water a biofilm can be formed.

Harmful biofilm in the colon
The bad bacteria form a dense biofilm in the colon. In the presence of the biofilm the healthy mucous layer dehydrates and starts to get infected. Because of the infection, the wall of the colon starts to swell and the holes in the colon wall which take care of the intake of food, become too big. Leaky gut syndrome then can occur and this shows that the development of the biofilm is the reason behind the leaky gut syndrome. It is the cause of food hypersensitivity and allergies. The importance to ensure the harmful biofilm is excreted from the body is clear.

The Vitamunda Colon Detox does not contain mucous healing ingredients
Other Colon cleaning products that exist, use ingredients that work on both healthy and bad mucous layers in the colon system – however this is harmful to the colon wall. The Vitamunda Colon Detox product does not contain any ingredient that dissolves or removes the mucous directly, on the contrary it is a product that re-hydrates and revives the colon wall.

Removing the Biofilm without harming the good mucous layer
With the Vitamunda Colon Detox product the harmful biofilm can be removed easily. This is because the action of the Vitamunda Colon Detox is based on the fermented fibre of the bark of a palm tree. This fibre permeates the dense structures of the biofilm, without damaging these structures. The Vitamunda Colon Detox product cannot permeate the healthy mucous layer, because it simply does not have a thick structure to permeate into. When permeating the biofilm the fibre also carries okra powder ingredient in also. Okra is a vegetable which looks like zucchini and which is rather slimy. This powder takes in 100x its weight in water and therefore the biofilm starts to swell with water, becomes hydrated and top-heavy. As a result the biofilm can easily slip out of the body.

When the biofilm has disappeared the healthy mucous layer underneath can recuperate because the suffocating and dehydrating biofilm is no longer on top of it.
